Half-Baked Dreams

We dreamed once—softly, like morning rain,

with hearts wide open, untouched by pain.

We made plans in notebooks,

scribbled hopes in the air,

but life moved faster

than we were prepared.

Half-built visions, paused mid-flight,

faded slowly into the night.

A song unsung, a road not taken,

a part of us still quietly shaken.

They weren’t failures, just left incomplete,

warm at the start, but missing their heat.

Not lost, just waiting in between—

our fragile, silent,

half-baked dreams.

Half-Baked Dreams.

We’ve all got them — soft, stubborn little dreams left half-finished, half-loved, half-true. Reading Sadiyah’s words feels like standing in front of an old cupboard full of things you meant to pack but never did. It makes you remember every idea you swore you’d chase when you were ‘ready’. The hobbies that turned into dusty notebooks. The promises you whispered to yourself on nights you felt invincible.

But then life happened, fast and messy. School deadlines, job applications, heartbreaks, growing pains — all of it arrived louder than those quiet dreams. And so they stayed half-built, tucked behind to-do lists and excuses. You told yourself you’d get back to them when things calmed down — but things never really do, do they?

The beautiful, heartbreaking thing is — half-baked dreams don’t blame you. They don’t resent you. They wait, patient and a little shy, peeking out when you’re alone and honest enough to notice them. They remind you that you’re still that kid who wanted more, who scribbled plans in notebooks and believed in ‘one day’.

And maybe that’s enough for now — to know they’re not gone, just waiting for your warmth. Maybe tonight you open the cupboard. Pick one up. Dust it off. Try again, even if it’s clumsy, even if it’s late.

Let it rise. Let it burn if it must. At least let it be real.

Your dreams aren’t failures just because they’re half-baked. They’re proof that you’re still becoming — unfinished, but alive. And that’s a beautiful thing to be.
